- Australian Showcase (2019)

Our most important program. AIAF Wagga Wagga hosts a collection of the best new Australian animation. This is the first opportunity each year to see a comprehensive collection of new Australian films, many of them introduced by the filmmakers in attendance. A vital and popular program, there aren't many opportunities to see Australian animation on the big screen and each year AIAF probably shows more than any other event in the world. This is an opportunity to see what Australian animators are doing, how they're doing it and how the art form is traveling. After the screening, there is a chance to meet many of the animators, hear them talk about their films and ask them questions about their work.

- Malcolm Turner Presents... (2019)

We managed to get Turner out of the office for most of the year – it helps keep the place clean and he usually comes back some pretty wild stuff. Whether it was teaching at Bezalel University in Jerusalem, hanging out in the Georgian Film Centre in Tbilisi, chasing the McLeod Brothers around London pubs, wearing out his welcome at the NFB in Montreal or launching charm offensives on distributors from one end of Europe to the other, he’s come home with a full goody-bag of the best stuff…. and here it is.

- SIGGRAPH Showcase (2019)

It's time to touch base with that massive global 'hitching post' of the digerati.... SIGGRAPH. For over 40 years, this event has been shining the brightest light down the digital animating path, encouraging devotees of the form to constantly push boundaries and experiment with new tools, toys and ideas.

- The Rosto Tetralogy (2019)

Writer, graphic artist, musician, animator….. long-time inspirational friend of AIAF & MIAF.
Driven and with an audaciously broad panoramic artistic vision, Rosto remains one of the most powerful, gifted and interesting multi-discipline artists of our age. In fact, Rosto’s life and his art are inextricably comingled. He lived inside the creative zone in which he imagined his films and, in turn, his films drove the way he lived and how he imagined the zone he lived within. It’s a giant tumbling ball, simultaneously part controlled and part random supplier of inspirational kilowatts. Similarly, the music that he created with his band Thee Wreckers feeds into and draws from his animation.
His latest film, “Reruns” completes a four film ‘tetralogy’ and his Paris based production house, Autour de Minuit, has completed a documentary outlining this stunning achievement as well as laying down some of the history and inspiration behind this creative turbine.
AIAF Co-Director, Malcolm Turner, visited Rosto last year in his home city of Amsterdam and locked in a special screening of this collection of unique work. He will do his best to introduce the program before turning the audience over to the tender mercies of an artist who promises almost everything except compromise.
